The Tourissimo Blog # From Italy to Tanzania: Tourissimo Guests Back Tulime’s Baiskeli Project ![Beppe Salerno](https://www.tourissimo.travel/hubfs/Beppe_avatar.jpg) Posted by [Beppe Salerno](https://www.tourissimo.travel/blog/author/beppe-salerno) on Sep 4, 2025 11:45:00 PM Find me on: [Facebook ](https://www.facebook.com/beppe.salerno.9) [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/beppesalerno) [Twitter ](https://twitter.com/beppesal) - [Tweet](https://twitter.com/share) ## Keeping the Wheels Turning: Update from Tulime’s Baiskeli Project   We have been supporting **Tulime’s Baiskeli Projects for several years with the Field Bike Mechanics initiative, first, and the School Bus Bikes more recently.** We’re excited to share an inspiring update from the **Tupo Pamoja Children Centre** in Tanzania. In rural Tanzania, many young students must walk 5–10 kilometers to school each day, a physically demanding journey that impacts attendance, safety, and learning. Recognizing this barrier, Tulime launched the Baiskeli initiative in 2019 to provide schoolchildren with bicycles, transforming their daily experience with a simple and sustainable solution.   ![Tourissimo Supports Tulime Baiskeli](https://www.tourissimo.travel/hs-fs/hubfs/Blog_pictures/Tulime_Baiskeli/Screenshot%202025-08-06%20at%2011.20.24%20AM.png?width=793&height=293&name=Screenshot%202025-08-06%20at%2011.20.24%20AM.png)   ### How you have/can you contribute to the cause? When you book a Tourissimo tour, you can choose to forgo your branded cycling jersey and instead make a donation to support Tulime. It’s a simple choice, but it creates a big impact.   Thanks to your support, two bicycles at **Tupo Pamoja Children Centre** are now operating as “school buses” for vulnerable children, especially those in early childhood education who cannot manage long walks. ![Our bike tours in Italy support Tulime Baiskeli](https://www.tourissimo.travel/hs-fs/hubfs/Blog_pictures/Tulime_Baiskeli/Screenshot%202025-08-06%20at%2011.21.05%20AM.png?width=1140&height=536&name=Screenshot%202025-08-06%20at%2011.21.05%20AM.png) These bikes have: - **Improved attendance and punctuality** - **Increased safety and well-being** - **Reduced the burden on families**, allowing parents to focus on income-generating work - **Boosted inclusion and confidence** among children Parents have shared how the program has changed their lives: > *“Baiskeli is a great help for me because I can’t always accompany my daughter to school—nor can I afford the boda (motorbike taxi).”* – Mama Glory > > *“It helps our children build friendships. I can focus on work without worrying about my child’s safety.”* – Mama Laura With the bikes maintained by field mechanics and operated under strict safety protocols, the Baiskeli project continues to deliver tangible, daily impact. These “school bus bikes” ensure that no child is left behind due to distance or financial hardship. ![Cycle in Italy and support Tulime Baiskeli](https://www.tourissimo.travel/hs-fs/hubfs/Blog_pictures/Tulime_Baiskeli/11836639_10207533976335938_5860353941328094306_n.jpg?width=960&height=539&name=11836639_10207533976335938_5860353941328094306_n.jpg) We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support that keeps this initiative rolling. Your generosity funds bike maintenance, rider salaries, safety checks, and emergency support, ensuring that bicycles remain powerful tools for access, dignity, and opportunity. **Let’s keep the wheels turning, together.** 👉 [Read more about the Baiskeli Project ](https://www.tourissimo.travel/blog/the-power-of-bicycles) Topics: [News & Community](https://www.tourissimo.travel/blog/topic/news-community) #### Don’t just read about Italy…visit it with us!
