A bicycle tour (or a hiking tour) in Italy promises a diverse array of awe-inspiring experiences that will engage your senses in ways you've never imagined. From witnessing captivating sights to savoring new scents, flavors, and sounds, these tours have the power to transform your perspective on the world. Before your adventure begins, you have to get there. Here are some essential things to do to prepare for your travels.
✔️ Confirm flight information
Double-check your flight details, including departure and arrival times for the airline you've booked tickets with.
✔️ Visa and Travel Requirements
Verify visa and travel requirements for Italy and ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months. Starting in 2024, even those coming from countries that don't require a visa will have to register with ETIAS.
✔️ Tell us about you
Inform us about any medical or dietary requirements, bike preferences, or special requests well in advance of your tour. We'll also need basic information such as passport details, flight information, and other essential details that we'll ask you about when you book. It's crucial to provide this information well in advance, typically at least 60 days before your tour.
✔️ Notify your bank(s)
Avoid credit card disruptions due to suspicious activity by informing your credit card companies about your travel plans, including your destination and travel duration. Consider requesting an increase in your ATM withdrawal limit for better access to cash.
✔️ Read your itinerary
Read your tour itinerary thoroughly. Familiarize yourself with arrival information, what's included in your tour, and start building anticipation for the exciting experiences awaiting you.
✔️ Read all pre-departure info
Tourissimo will send you several important emails, usually within the period 2-4 weeks before your tour that will include essential info, contact details for your guides, last-minute updates and changes, and anything else you need to know for the start of your tour. Read these emails, and contact us if anything is not clear.
✔️ Share your itinerary with loved ones at home
This ensures they can locate you in case of an emergency. They can also vicariously live your tour experience.
✔️ Book travel to and from the tour
If your tour includes pickup and drop-off at specific airports, ensure your travel plans align with these arrangements. If your arrival and departure dates or locations differ, make sure you have a plan to reach the tour's starting point and your next destination at the tour's end.
✔️ Review the terms and conditions of your trip
Thoroughly review the terms and conditions of your trip to understand what you've signed up for and what is expected of you during the tour.
✔️ Buy travel insurance
Travel plans can be susceptible to unexpected disruptions or cancellations that are not covered in the cost of your tour package. To safeguard yourself against these unforeseen events, it is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance.
✔️ Pack thoroughly yet efficiently
Ensure you have all the necessary items packed for your trip, but do so in an organized and efficient manner. Tourissimo will provide you with a packing list once you've confirmed your tour reservation. To ensure the comfort and safety of all our guests, please be aware that on most Tourissimo tours we restrict luggage to one suitcase and one small day bag.
✔️ Read up about bicycling and travel so you know what to expect
Tourissimo offers a wealth of information through blogs and resources about Italy, cycling, and various other topics. After booking, you'll gain access to our "Get Ready" section, where we've compiled valuable information in one place.
