Italian food is not only about pasta and pizza. There are many regional dishes that are part the of the local tradition. You might want to try out some Italian and ask for:

- la specialità della casa (house specialty)

- la specialità della zona (local specialty)

House wine (vino della casa) is usually local and it's offered at bargain price. Bottled wine is often guaranteed with a DOC or DOCG appellation and not much more expensive.
